Have you experienced any of the following symptoms:

Feeling low, lack of motivation
-
Digestive problems
-
Headaches
-
Muscle tension and pain
-
High blood pressure and cardiovascular complaints
-
Sleep problems

-
Problems with memory and focus
If you have, chances are that some of these symptoms are the result of stress or a stressful event occurring in your life.

Whilst stress is a normal part of life - it helps us take action - it’s definitely not something that we should be overwhelmed by and yet this is too often the case.

Around 60% of Australians report experiencing stress in some form (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2023), and the growing body of evidence continues to link stress to various health issues. Conditions such as anxiety, depression, cardiovascular disease, and gastrointestinal problems are increasingly recognized as being directly associated with chronic stress (Smith et al., 2023; Jones & Lee, 2023; Williams & Cooper, 2023).

The Cultivating Calm course is your opportunity to take control of stress, learn techniques to build resilience and flourish in the new year.

This proactive six week course has been designed to help you identify and manage stress to ensure a healthy, happy and productive 2025.

Understanding good and bad stress, how to identify chronic stress and an introduction to Mind Body Therapies (MBT) proven to build stress resilience including yoga, mindfulness and strategies from the latest branch of evidence based medicine, Lifestyle Medicine.
-
The importance of movement in managing stress - understanding the role of the body in storing or releasing stress and trauma.

Who is this course for?
Everyone! Stress is ubiquitous in our modern world: The pressure to meet unrealistic ideals portrayed on social media, combined with the 24/7 news cycle, has exacerbated mental health issues, particularly symptoms of anxiety and stress (Johnson & White, 2023; Kross et al., 2023). We are all feeling it!
Cultivating Calm is for anyone dealing with day-to-day stress and especially for those feeling overwhelmed by the stress in their lives. This course will give you the tools you need to manage overwhelm and build resilience. It won’t change the world, but it will allow you to respond differently - feeling calm and more in control.

Susy Strange
Susy is a qualified Yoga Therapist and Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner with a deep passion for empowering individuals to enjoy healthy, happy living. With extensive training in trauma-sensitive yoga, biomedical yoga and yoga therapy, Susy blends ancient practices with modern science to support those on their journey toward well-being. She completed her graduate degree in Lifestyle Medicine in 2024, further solidifying her expertise in preventive healthcare and the treatment and management of chronic lifestyle-related disease.
After spending 25 years in the medical devices industry, primarily focused in the cardiovascular space, Susy made a transformative shift to focus on helping people avoid and manage chronic disease, pain, and suffering. Her personal journey with yoga began through her own experience of living with a severe, degenerative spinal condition, which she manages with yoga, lifestyle medicine, and an anti-inflammatory diet. This holistic approach fuels her passion for sharing healing practices that address the root causes of chronic conditions rather than just the symptoms.
Susy’s unique background and compassionate approach allow her to guide others in reclaiming their health, fostering a deeper connection between body, mind, and spirit. Whether through one-on-one sessions or group classes, Susy is dedicated to supporting individuals in finding balance, reducing pain, and enhancing their quality of life - particularly throughout the ageing process.

Susy is opening her first wellness centre in Woronora River in 2025 and more information on her offerings can be found here.
Rebecca Anderson
If there were medals for navigating chronic stress, Rebecca would undoubtedly take home the gold. As a dedicated mother of six and a full-time event manager—ironically one of the most stressful professions—Rebecca's journey has been anything but easy. She has faced the challenges of divorce, moved more than 20 times, triumphed over cancer (nodular melanoma), and pushed her limits far beyond what most would consider reasonable.
However, with three decades of experience on the yoga mat, she embodies the transformative power of yoga for both body and mind. In 2019, she took a significant step forward by becoming a yoga teacher and has recently completed her qualifications in yoga therapy. Additionally, she is a certified Bowen Therapist and Reiki practitioner, passionately running her own business in her spare time. Rebecca is committed to leveraging her diverse skills and personal experiences to help others find relief from pain and stress, enabling them to embrace every day to its fullest.
